"Miracles do not happen in contradiction with nature, but with what we know of it."
St. Augustine
As is well known, the agricultural year does not coincide with the solar year and, often, the climate of the last months of the previous solar year affects the organoleptic characteristics of the wines of the current vintage.
The hilly area of Romangia in 2019 and 2020 experienced different climatological conditions and, considering that the soils of our estate are not irrigated, the seasonality of rainfall, its accumulation and the number of summer days inevitably influence the flavor, aromas and alcohol content of the wines produced.
HARVEST 2025 (Bottled 2026)
The 2025 growing season confirmed a warm and irregular climate.
After an early part of the year that ensured a fair water reserve,
late spring and early summer were marked by limited rainfall and high temperatures,
leading to faster grape ripening.
Thunderstorms in August and unstable weather in September
required particularly careful harvest timing.
The season yielded rich and concentrated musts,
capable of producing wines with intense aromas, broad palate impact and sustained alcoholic strength.
HARVEST 2024 (Bottled 2025)
The 2024 growing season was overall less extreme than the previous one,
although temperatures remained above the historical average.
In Northern Sardinia, rainfall was generally more regular,
allowing the vines to develop in a more balanced way.
Summer heat, together with the late rains of August and the unsettled weather of September,
required particular care in protecting grape health.
From this season came wines with good aromatic intensity, elegance, pleasant salinity
and an important yet more measured alcoholic structure than in the previous vintage.
HARVEST 2023 (Bottled 2024)
The 2023 vintage sadly stands as the hottest ever recorded in Sardinia and throughout Italy, with an average temperature 1.4°C higher than the historical average for the 1991–2020 period.
The lack of rainfall, combined with numerous days of extreme heat, severely challenged the vines with water stress due to intense leaf transpiration — a natural defense mechanism — not compensated by root absorption because of the dry soil.
Despite a sufficient number of clusters and the near-absence of fungal diseases, we recorded a production decrease of about 30 quintals compared to the average.
The partial shriveling of the berries, although the harvest ended by August 27, caused an increase in sugar concentration and consequently in alcohol content.
HARVEST 2022 (Bottled 2023)
Across most of the island, cumulative rainfall generally exceeded 600 mm.
The eastern coast, together with the Nurra and Anglona regions, were the areas with the least frequent precipitation, with values below 60 rainy days and in some cases even below 55.
To counteract the effects of these weather conditions on the vineyard, we were forced to anticipate the harvest, carried out from August 10 to 24, with healthy grapes and high sugar content, though with yields below average.
HARVEST 2021 (Bottled 2022)
The exceptional rainfall at the beginning of the 2021 agricultural year (in November 2020 rainfall totals more than doubled the long-term monthly average: 210 mm compared to 100 mm) allowed the vines to develop vigorous vegetation and, despite the long summer, the grape clusters suffered little from the heat.
The ripening of the berries occurred regularly, achieving a high sugar level which, combined with a substantial phenolic contribution from the skins, gave us wines with an even higher alcoholic degree, always accompanied by exceptional aromas.
HARVEST 2020 (Bottled 2021)
This agricultural year was characterized by rainfall slightly below annual averages, but unlike the usual pattern, the rains were concentrated in the spring period, when higher temperatures cause greater evaporation and therefore lower soil humidity.
The grape clusters ripened early, though with good quality.
Both Cagnulari and Cannonau show a good alcohol content, appreciated for their savoriness and aromas.
